Invasive species.

Statesmen Journal article review.

1.) With thousands of species gaining footholds in areas where they can cause the most damage, Oregon officials have the chance to be heroes and save the Beaver State.
2.) some calls are false alarms. A recent call about a mitten crab was a case of misidentification.
3.) European settlers brought plants and animals that reminded them of their home of that could be used for food or medicine. Other European critters caught a ride on an American-bound ship.
4.) The internet allows people to order exotic species by mail--with little oversight. The elegant mute swans sometimes purchased online as enhancements for private lakes.
5.) Native grasses tend to bunch and grow with spaces between them. But cheat grass blankets the ground, fueling more intense, severe fires.

These are the Five things that I found interesting in this article.

Resolutions.

The things that I think are in the future for me are first of all, more school. I am only a freshman and have three years left. I am going to do my best to make it through those years so I can graduate. That is my first priority in life, to graduate high school. I am starting a job before too long so I am going to be making money. I am going to save most of it for a car and I plan on really studding for my permit soon. I am getting off probation really soon and that is a really big thing for me. I really have been struggling while on probation and have learned to deal with it. I got lots of support but now it's time for me to finish what I apparently started. Then college is a big thing too. I hope to make it there and am very confident that I will. That is all I am goin to share with you guys about my life.

Myself.LOF.

By being at the Ike Box I have proved that I can be be responsible because its a privilege to be here and I am here now. I have earned a lot of credits here and have learned way more then I would have at the Roberts campus. I have learned more to take responsibility for my actions and be honest. I am very proud of myself for accomplishing all these things and more. i have met new people and bonded with them and my teacher too. I really like this class better then all the other ones I have been to. Its more challenging and there is WAY less drama. I am thankful to be here but I also know that I been messing up a lot too so I just wanna see if I can make it through the rest of the year.

Inhabitants. Ike Box.

Some of people at the Ike Box I already knew like Andrea, Rick, and Kelsey. I also met a lot of new people like Ryan, Eric, Zach, and Miranda. I like the people I have been acquainted with because there pretty easy to get along with and easy going. I have met some of the people who work downstairs like Jake and that one chick. Its just a good environment here at the Ike Box. I am pretty sure that there are ghosts down here too because this used to be a funeral home. Its a pretty cool place to be.

Crash Landing.

I "crash landed" at the Ike Box while I was already at Barbra Roberts. I came from Marianne's class and they told me that there was a really good class down at the Ike Box. I was able to get in because I made it to school everyday and they thought it was really good for me. I almost stayed at Roberts but I decided to try it here and it turns out that I really like it. I am truly glad that I tried it out here. It is great experience here and more of a challenge. The class I was in before was WAY to easy and this class can be a good challenge. I am very grateful to be here.

Endangered Species.

(1) Species Common and Scientific Name: Marbled Murrelet. (Brachyramphus marmoratus marmoratus)

(2) Habitat Description (where does it live)?: Located in Oregon, California, and Washington. It is a small seabird and it from the North Pacific. It nests in old-growth forests or in elevation where trees don't grow.


(3) What caused it to become endangered?:The biggest threat to the Murrelet was long considered to be loss of old growth forest to logging and climate-driven changes in ocean conditions. Habitat entanglement in fishing gear and oil spills are also losses of nesting.

Endangered Habitats

We should care that the habitats are in danger because plants and animals are losing their homes and food. Habitats are so important because living things are dependent on them and need them to survive. Its the human environment that is taking away what forests need like cutting down trees and experimenting on life in the woods. Its really a sad thing to see happen to innocent creatures that depend on us to make sure their habitats are safe. We all need to really care if we want to save the plants and animals from extinction. So come together and save the wildlife.

Lord of the Flies. LOF

What I think the Lord of the Flies means is that possibly the island itself could be the lord and the flies are the boys that live on it. It's hard to tell but also Jack or Simon could be the lord and the rest of the boys are flies. I might just go with the island as the lord though. The island is a mystery to the boys and its a large exploration area for them. I think that the island is in control of the boys because its massive and its full of strange creatures and things that it keeps the boys busy and curious. They have pretty much learned how to survive on the island and hunt down the great beast which happens to be a pig. Thats what I think the lord of the flies means.

The Hierarchy of Friends LOF.

Girl- She is the silly one who always has a smile on.
Slackariah- He is always telling a story or trying to go do something fun.
RAD- He is kind of slow sometimes but aren't we all?! He always thinks I am funny so thats all good.
Yvonneahumpalot- She is the excitement in all of my friends. She is ALWAYS fun and funny. Definitely my favorite of them all!
Mr. MeiP- He is the best man. I love Mr. MeiP so much. He is like the funniest person I know ever. Mr. MeiP is my best friend in the whole world.

The Separation LOF.

Ralph has more "power" from what I have been able to see. I say this because I feel he has the power to control people and not be rude about it. He is more of a leader and ruler type. Others follow while he is telling them what need to happen. I think that when they finished, they were on their own terms and were calmer.

Evaluation Day LOF.

I know that Simon faints and then when he is wobbling back to the rest of the people he is mistaken for the beast and is murdered. Then Piggy is hit in the head with a rock by Ralph. I am not going to lie that I haven't really paid that much attention to the story but this is what I know has happened.

LOF Predictions.

I don't know what the beast may be but it could be an animal from the wilderness. It's maybe a bear or a moose or something of that sort. Also it could be one of the group members trying to scare each other.
I know so far that some of the boys do not get along together that well so they might end up hurting one another or maybe killing someone. It has got to be pretty intense out in the wilderness and trying to explore and find food so it could be a battle for the win.

Fear.

My most fearful moments were when I used to have really bad anxiety attacks. When I was in 4th grade I used to get really bad anxiety attacks that lasted for like maybe 5 minutes but it felt like forever. It was the most scariest feeling that I have ever felt. I had to go see a psychiatrist and put on medication. It was that bad. I missed a lot of my forth grade year and almost got held back. The attacks got so bad that I just couldn't go anywhere without my mom. I couldn't be alone because every time I event thought about it, it would happen. I don't know why I used to get them but they said I had a chemical imbalance in my brain. This was the scariest moment I ever had.

Trees.

Trees are very important because they create life for many things. They also shade things in the summer time and they shield things from the rain. Trees are so much more important then people give them credit for. some people actually study trees and make sure other people know about them. The wood from the trees is used for making things like chairs and tables. Also houses are being built from the trees. Trees are an important part of the ecosystem. Some trees serve as Christmas trees or home plants. Trees are awesome to me.

Laws on gun ownership..

I think that laws should definitely tighten the laws on gun ownership. I believe that guns should ONLY be used for PROTECTION. If you have a license for a gun by the government or state then it should be allowed. People who don't have a license should be fined and have further punishment advised by a judge or citizens. It is way to dangerous to just be carrying a gun around without authorization. My dad used to have a gun that he carried in the car for emergencies like if we were getting hurt or robbed or situations like that, but he also had a license for it. ALL guns no matter what kind, should need a license to own.
The Army and Military no doubt about it should have weapons for the war and for training and protecting the U.S.A. I don't believe they should be used otherwise because they are so dangerous and deadly. There have been so many deaths and injuries because of gun uses and fights. Elementary schools have been raided by kids and teens who are violent and have been expose to abuse or the t.v. with people who use guns. Its so dangerous and unsafe to have guns around children and youth. Teen under the influence have had so many deaths because of misuse of weapons. If an adult or parent must have a gun then they need to make sure its somewhere up high and safe out of reach or children and teens. It better to be safe then sorry and find your child dead because of your misplacing a weapon.

An evening with Chris Gardener

(1) I am really looking forward to graduating high school. I wasn't really that into school before and never really cared. Until I started getting in trouble with the law, I started to realize that life is not a game and you need to make a goal to succeed. It got me thinking that I really need to go to school and graduate. I even went to summer school the summer going into freshman year to get a head start. I really want to have a successful life and have money.

(2) For a long time I really wanted to be an infant doctor but then I got involved with the law and I thought I could also make it big as a lawyer or even a judge. I have watched the discovery channel before too and I saw people who were volcanologist and who studied volcanoes. I thought that would be interesting. I also love space and the whole galoxy thing so I wouldn't mind going to space either. All these things I would love to be. I also know that I need to graduate high school and go to college to do these things to do them.

(3) For me to achieve at least one of these goals I need courage, confidence, self-respect, support, brains, patients, love, back bone, and respect for others too. I do understand the reality of these things too. I know that its not going to be easy to be these things. I am going to need a lot of schooling outside of high school and focus. But I believe that if I really want it then I can do anything to do so. I believe in myself.

Lord of the Flies. Befriend.

My boyfriend Robby. I never thought we would ever be friends because I always thought he was so cool and he is older so he wouldn't want to hang out with younger people. Turns out we mad great friends for quite a while before we started dating. I always saw Robby as someone who had high standards and went to parties. I just didn't think that i would be good enough for him because I was a little bit younger. He was and is still definitely cool and an awesome person. I am so glad that I took the chance to try to be his friend. It took us a long way to where we are now. He is not only my boyfriend but he is my best friend. Just because you may not think you would be friends with a person, doesn't mean that you cant be. Talking a chance could result in a lifetime friendship, or it may not but take a chance. What do you have to lose anyway? Take a chance.

Lord of the flies being alone.

Yes I definitely value being alone because when I am stressed of really upset, being around people can make it even worse. Sometimes its better for me to be alone even when I am okay too. I need time to myself to think and bask in my own ambiance. There are also times when I need to be around people and not be alone, for attention purposes. It is important to be by yourself sometimes to think about stuff and to calm down or cry or just spend time with your emotions. There is definitely a value in spending quality time with yourself.

Mold

Although molds grows on dead organic matter everywhere in nature, their presence is only visible to the unaided eye when mold colonies grow. Mold also grows in houses and buildings. Anywhere theres moisture left unannounced can create mold. Mold can and will grow anywhere. Dew forms outside in cold mornings because condensation commonly occurs when a vapor is cooled to its dew point. Water vapor will only condense onto another surface when that surface is cooler than the temperature of the water vapor. Soon after the humidity becomes heavy and forms drops of water or liquid over lawns and houses. In buildings and houses the internal air can have a high level of relative humidity due to the activity of the occupants . When this air comes into contact with cold surfaces such as windows and cold walls it can condense, causing dampness. Condensation is change from a gas to a liquid. Some problems that might occur with indoor condensation is that wood furniture and valuables may be ruined because of the moisture. Also if it occurs often, it can create mold and fungi.

No Rules

I think that if society had no rules then we would all be in BIG trouble. This goes into other blogs we've done before. The world would be in complete chaos with no rules. People would be stealing but technically it wouldn't be stealing because theres no rules. Thats almost like have all the money in the world have no value. There would be no reason to have money because you could just take everything you wanted. Thats where violence would come in because people would get mad at others for taking what they wanted. I wouldn't want to live in the world that went to chaos over no rules. It would be to stressful and dangerous. Rules are what makes the world go round among other things. With no rules, theres no civilization.

Ides of March

The 15th of March is exactly the middle of the month and was marked on the Roman calendar. This was also the Famously day known for Julius Caesar assassination. Shakesphere used this to re-tell in the play Julius Caesar. The term has come to be used as a metaphor for impending doom.

The reasons that I think there go in order like this is because this just seems like the worst to least. I feel like throwing a train off track is the worst and putting soap in a fountain is the least. In between I put them in order the way I think the damage is. My opinion will probably be different then others but this is just what I think. Vandalism is bad all around and this shows the different things that are considered as vandalism.

If there were no rules in this world, then the world would have its ending sooner then planed. I don't really even want to picture the world with no rules. Rules are what make the world go round. If it wasn't for rules, we would all be out of control burning things and blowing stuff up. People would kill the people they didn't like and attack innocent people would be getting hurt. I know that I would not want to love in the world with so much more chaos then we already have. That would just be to much pain and sacredness for me. I don't mind having rules and restrictions here because thats what protects us and tries to keep us safe. I'd rather be protected and feel safe then not have to obey rules like everyone else has too. Thats just society and world peace.

DESTRUCTION

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY IS A REALLY BIG DEAL BECAUSE IT'S SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY AND PEOPLE DON'T LIKE THAT TO HAPPEN TO THEIR STUFF. WHEN YOU STEAL STUFF FROM STORES OR PEOPLE'S HOUSES ITS A BIG DEAL BECAUSE THAT STUFF IS THEIRS NOT YOURS. IF YOU'VE EVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT BEFORE OR AFTER YOU STOLE AND THOUGHT, WHAT IF THAT WAS YOUR STUFF BEING STOLEN. IT PRETTY MUCH SUCKS. DON'T STEAL OF DESTRUCT PROPERTY.
VIOLENCE IS ALSO A BIG CONTRIBUTION IN WORLD CHAOS. VIOLENCE IS ONE OF THE #1 PROBLEMS YOUNG TEENS AND ADULTS. FIGHTING IS HOW WE SO CALLED "SOLVE PROBLEMS" BUT REALLY ITS NOT. I THINK PEOPLE NEED TO CHILL OUT AND LEARN TO COMPROMISE AND SOLVE.

Summary- A virus is a sub-microscopic infectious agent that is unable to grow or reproduce outside a hot cell.

Reproduction- Viral populations do not grow through cell division, because they are acellular; instead, they use the machinery and metabolism of a host cell to produce multiple copies of themselves. A virus can still cause degenerative effects within a cell without causing its death; collectively these are termed cytopathic effects.

Diseases- Ebola- is the common term for a group of viruses belonging to genus Ebolavirus, family Filoviridae, and for the disease which they cause, Ebola hemorrhagic fever .
Aids- is a collection of symptoms and infections resulting from the specific damage to the immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus.
avian influenza- sometimes Avian flu, and commonly Bird flu refers to "Influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds.
SARS- Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a respiratory disease in humans which is caused by the SARS corona virus. These are all diseases caused by viruses.

* Some of the benefits of the protists are they clean the water by eating and breaking down the toxic waste and other bacterias that can be very harmful. * They are in your lungs and they help break down the mucus and stuff in there.

*Problems*
Some organisms can be harmful because our bodies aren't used to them. There is bacteria based organisms that carry diseases and other harmful bacteria. Also without some types of protists and organisms, the world and Eco-system cant function properly. The protists break-down certain things in water that is harmful to us and makes it better.

If children ruled the world then that would be very interesting. The world would definitely be a lot different. There probably wouldn't be war and bad things, because you know how kids are. Unless theres those kids who are destructive and want to destroy the world. Things that might be different would be food. I think that there would be only junk food for all the meals of the day. There would be a lot more play time and no bedtime. Probably no school either, except for the kids who want to learn. this whole world would most likely go to chaos because children cant do some of the things adults do for the government. It's more complicated then it sounds. Children don't want to work, they'd rather play all day. Without work then theres no money and you need money for food and clothes and stuff. It just wouldn't work out if kids ruled the world in my opinion.

If Animals Couls Talk

If i could talk to animals then that would be totally awesome! You wouldn't need to talk to humans all the time, you could talk to animals. Some people are more quite then others and don't have friends so they could talk to the animals and play with then more and have friends. I also think it would be very interesting the talk to an animals. You see it on movies and stuff but to experience it in real life, that would be cool.

If everyone lived in space then that would be awesome! They would have gigantic space ship things, kind of like states. so many people would be able to live there. The food would be the same. We could still have all sorts of stuff up there. It would be far enough away but we could watch the world come to an end and totally blow up. that would be the coolest thing in the whole world. Or whole galaxy I should say.
If we all lived in space then there would still have to be jail and prison. So there for if people have death row, they would just throw them out into space to suffocate or hit a meteor. That would be a scary way to die. I have wanted to go to space for a long time and I would love to go sometime. Living in space is a chance of a lifetime.
People in space would wear the same clothes we wear now except it would have to be specially made for space wear. The people of space would have to travel by like space cars. Kind of like in the show Futurama. weels wouldn't be needed that much.

The best advice I have ever gotten was from my probation officer. She told me to always tell the truth no matter how bad what I did was because it would make me look responsible and honest in front of the judge and her and my family. I always had so much trouble telling the truth and I would just get in twice the trouble for lying. I did that gig for a while when it finally hit me that lying was just making it worse. It took a while to get the hang of telling the truth but I did and every time I got in trouble and told the truth, it seemed like it wasn't as bad as it usually was. I am so glad that I can be honest now because I feel like I can fess up to mostly anything now without being that scared. Of course its still going to be hard but its definitely way better.

The U.S. has over 3,100 military bases all over the United States. Ithink it might be a good thing for so many of them because we are prepared for mostly anything and we have plenty of back up. I don't however agree with the fact that they are sending in so many of our troops into war that we aren't even winning. They just need to let it go or at least make an agreement with Iraq.

I think that the government should spend more money on the country instead of using it on military forces. They should make it so that they can get as many people off the street and feed the homeless. If we spent more money on trying to educate people on tobacco products and other harmful drugs, then people might be better off. All this money goes to weapons and funds on military forces and we aren't even winning this war. It upsets me that people and getting killed and hurt on the streets when the government could be stopping this or at least trying to.

*PROTISTS*
SUMMARY
A protists is any of a group of eukaryotic organisms belonging to the kingdom Protista according to some widely used modern taxonomic systems.

*MAJOR GROUPS*

Animal-like Protists:

• Their decomposer's and symbiotic, are disease causing.
  
• Their consumers, hypertrophy's, unicellular and are classified by movement.

Plant-like Protists:

• They produce oxygen, autotroph, and they are the first on the food chain.
• They are multicellular (algae) and some are unicellular-phytoplankton.
• They produce 1/2 of the worlds oxygen.

Fungi-like Protists:

• fungus-like slime molds (reproduce via spores) and water molds and downy mildew (flagellated cells)

*LOCOMOTION*

• The way protists move is sarcodines (pseudopod) which are false feet. Flagellates ( whip-like structures) Ciliates which is hair-like paramecium, and sporozoans which don't move on their own. They need help from water or other stuff.

• They reproduce with their mating tubes.
• Again, highly variable
• Asexual by Fission
• Mitosis, offspring identical
• strepto- long chains

*Benefits*

WHEN I AM GONE.

I want people to remember me as a good person, not someone who broke the law and was a liar and a thief. I want people to celebrate my living not my death. I want people to mostly be happy at my funeral. Even though I am dead, People can be happy that I was alive. Theres a certain song that I want played there but I cant remember what its called. I hope to accomplish in life is have a great career that I love, have a family and a nice place to live with plenty of money. I want to live the big life. I was both liked and disliked. Nobody has everyone they know and don't know like them. Someone had to not like you. The number one thing in my life was my family. I would take the bullets for my family anytime anyplace. I made things happen in my life. No one did it for me. I didn't do what I loved the most but I did do something I loved. Remember me when I'm gone.

I think that if people want to do art of themselves of other people in the privacy of their own homes then it should be fine. If their trying to do it in public then I would have to disagree. I don't know about you but I am sure that I don't want to see naked people around town. I feel like its uncomfortable to see and very disturbing.
I am against public display of bad images and language. And also sencership should be done too. Younger children watch t.v. and don't need to be introduced to inappropriate language and images. I don't mind it for myself or other older people because I am used to it but to younger people shouldn't. They also have parental control too so if parents really didn't want their children to watch stuff then they'd put parental control on t.v. and on the computer and sometimes on game systems. This is my statement about sencership and parental controls.

ABORTIONS?

I think that it would be a good idea for parental consent because its a very dangerous procedure to do. Your life is also in risk, not just the baby's life. Only if the woman is under 18 should parental consent be required. If your over 18 then your parents aren't legally responsible for you anymore. It's a very difficult decision to make and it can be a life changing experience and it probably would be good to have support with you instead of doing it alone. Parents have a right to know where you are and where you are going because you are their responsibility and they love you. In some situations it may not be any of their concern like if you are emancipated or if theres another personal reason behind it.

I think I would vote or Marijuana to be legalized because I love Marijuana but theres also some bad things about it to. But I'll tell you why I want it to be legalized.

Cannabis does have harmful effects yes, but it's not anymore harmful then alcohol of tobacco.
Cannabis also has a ingredient in it that are indeed beneficial. It even helps patients that have Multiple sclerosis. Its really not that bad. A bad thing though about it baing legal is that it might be harder to get the good stuff because people would be buying it so much. Its probably the most used drug around. I love marijuana and I wish it was okay to smoke without all the bad stuff.

Well I would rather have my child come into the world the way they were naturally suppose to. I wouldn't want to make a mistake on my baby and hurt it. I think it might be cool though to have a Genetically Modified child because they could be very successful in their lives and be healthy and strong and do good. But I also believe that my child will do just fine in their lives by coming into the world naturally without any nicks in the procedure. I think that my children will be successful if thats what they want and I will be here for them no matter what.
If I were to do so then id try my best to make sure that the depression and heart disease and all the other downers get out of their genetics. I will love my kids no matter how they come out though.

McKinley Reflection

1) The thing that I liked the best about the experience was that we got to hang out with younger kids and watch how smart they are and videotape them on commercials.
2) Aspects that were difficult for me was to make them listen all the time. I understand that they are only in 3rd grade and it might be hard for them but it was hard for me too. Also it was difficult to adjust to the surrounding of little kids.

3) I think that they may benefit to us being there by maybe wanting to do something like that when they get into high school. Or maybe that made some of them want to be a movie star or actor. I think they may have learned some good thing from us being there.

What I really hate is when people talk "crap." I hate it because all it does is start "drama" and nothing but trouble. Throughout my life iv had my share of people talking crap. sometimes you can get used to it but I really cant. It sucks. I hate when people talk about how they hate how fake people are when really they are the "fake" ones. I hate when people talk about themselves all the time and brag about all the girls or guys they been with. I hate how people talk crap to you and cant back it up unless they have their friends with them. I hate jealous people who try to break your relationships just because they want to be apart of it. Its normal to be jealous of people but compulsive jealousy is bad. I hate when people prank me or call and hang up. Theres a lot more that I hate but this should be enough.

What or who I really love is my boyfriend Robby. I love him because I can talk to him about anything and everything and he'll always be there to listen and give me good advise to get through hard times. I love him because hes sweet to me and he cares about me. Throughout our relationship, people really didn't want us to be together but we stuck together through all the good and bad times. We have great and bad memories but all of them were worth every second of them. He really is the sun that brightens up my day. I really love him. I may only be 15 years old but who ever made an age up that you cant be in love? No one did so no one can tell me I cant love.

Three things you value: an object, a relationship, and an idea.

Something I value is my house because i look at all this bad weather and all the storms and i couldn't imagine what id do without shelter. I feel bad for the people in Africa and all the poorer countries that don't have food OR shelter. That makes me value my home more then a lot of other things.

The relationship I value the most is the one I have with my boyfriend. I am grateful for the times i spend with him and all the time I am going to spend with him. He is the one who brightens up my day and makes me smile. Sometimes we don't always get along of agree about everything with each other but we still love each other and respect each others opinions.

An idea that I value is my invention that I am going to create. I would really like to share it with you but then you might steal it and use it for your own and get rich. i will say though is that it has to do with tattoos and the ink. I am going to make good money off this idea and many people will be more satisfied with their new tattoos. My idea will work out for everyone in the end. :)

Three R's

The respect in the classroom is that you look at the person when their talking or look at them when your talking so you may communicate better. You should clean up after yourself and talk respectfully to others. Some personal views of respect are that you are nice to the person even if you don't like the person. Being honest is one of the biggest respect issues because people think its okay to not be honest when really its a huge deal.

Responsibility is when someone trusts you to do something and trusts to do it right or at least expect you to do your best. It depends on the situation. Some of the views i have on responsibilities are that you do what you were expected to do. If your suppose to babysit the you are expected to babysit and make sure the child is safe. If your suppose to go to school the go to school and do the bast you can do there to get good grades. Stuff like that.

I think this means that if your not doing what your suppose to do like babysitting or going to school there are going to be serious consequences. Like if you don't go to school the you may not graduate and possibly be a BUM all your life. And if your not babysitting when your suppose to be then the baby could choke of fall down the stairs or fall and bust their head open. You need to do what you need to do unless you want some serious issues to follow you around..
